  1. 2.) I think that college is going to be an exciting time where I meet new people and a time where I finally learn how to study and apply myself in all aspects whether it's academically or outside of school. Ram T2k did not change my expectations. If anything it prepared me with more information of what the course work for school will be like and how teachers will be. The course made me even more excited for the school year to start.

  2. What did you think college would be like and has the early RAM T2K class changed any of your conceptions?
Initially before entering college I had the perception that I wouldn't be able to transition from high school to university very well. I had the sense that since the majority of my friends attended college, and appraised me that college is completely different from high school it had me nervous. Even though college is completely different from high school the early T2K program assisted me in making that transition very smooth. The RAM program assisted me in being able to learn more about Dean University, and where the important buildings are.

  3. 2.) I thought college was going to be extremely hard and very challenging. College is the start of adulthood for most people, partly because they are on their own. I also though none of the teachers would care in college at all, that no one would care about my grades at all. The early Transition to Kean program helped me realize that college may not be as difficult as I thought, and that my teachers may actually care about my grades. The program also made me comfortable with the campus.

  4. (2) I think and know that college will be wildly different and difficult in comparison to what I have known and become used to. Having a schedule in which there are different classes everyday will be a challenge. As a person of strict routine, I know that that aspect of college will take some time to get used to. The one conception that T2K changed for me was how kind and helpful professors are. I have been inundated with stories of horrible professors, so to see some nice ones at first is a great relief.

  5. 2)A big misconception I had about college was that it was a very hands off environment where professors throw information at you and you have to do what you can with it. Whether that is true or not really depends on the school. In Kean University’s case I didn't feel like I was thrown into a class and had to fend for myself, which I really appreciate. There is an overwhelming amount of support and resources here that is very comforting knowing that I can easily get help.
RAM T2K is especially helpful because there’s an extra level of help and advisement that I will definitely find useful.

  6. I think thought that going into college you would be on your own. No one would really be there to help you as much as they did in highschool. I have taken college classes in the past, so im looking forward in seeing how similar the experiences are and will be. The RAM T2K has showed me that theres alot of resources aroubd canpus that are here to help us suceed. The RAM T2K class has also showed me that completing college in four years might not actually be impossible. All the presentations that we watched were also really helpful with the transition to this school.

  7. I think college is going to be very exciting, because I’m going to meet new people and make new friends. Also it’s going to be difficult to get use to living in my dorm, because I have to apply myself in the community. As well, being away from home for the first for the first time is difficult. It might be hard, but throughout the time I know I will get use it. I know that I am going to love being here at Kean University, and hope to have a great time in my four years of University. The early RAM T2k did change my conceptions, because it helped me get use to the class environment. Also the feeling of being here to start a new chapter in life at Kean University. Plus, it helped me see the people in the school are very kind and helpful.

  8. I thought college was going to be very intimidating and overwhelming starting out. RAM has given me the opportunity to get acquainted with the campus and a snippet of what it feels like to be a college student. I thought college was going to mean having a lot of freedom, which it is my perception on that has not changed but however, with that freedom comes a lot of responsibility. Every decision I make now is very crucial. High school had many activities to get involved in and I didn't think college would be the same way, but I was wrong. There's many things to get involved in, which I will try to get involved because I wasn't as involved in high school and I would love the experience. The college environment is a lot different than a high school one and I know I will enjoy the next four years of what the school has to offer.

  9. 2. At first, I thought college would be a bit intimidating for a freshman. I thought people would still be creating their own cliques and professors would be giving the students a hard time in class. However, the entire RAM T2K class experience has changed that conception. My classmates were all welcoming and outgoing. There were no cliques or bad commentaries. The GEMS and professors were also very friendly. Their kind of attitude set a comfortable environment for the class and a good impression on what to expect. I really appreciated how everyone interacted with one another and were easy to approach. College will be anything but intimidating for me now thanks to the early RAM T2K class.

  11. I thought college would be like a tougher version of high school, because, frankly, that's what most of my teachers used to tell me. Other teachers claimed that college was nothing like high school. After taking the early RAM T2K class, I can't say that it changed my conceptions, because I really didn't know what to expect. I hopped on that train on my own for the very first time all the way to Kean University, not knowing what was coming my way. When I reached the campus, I was more than pleased to find a more than beautiful scenery, a more than friendly faculty, and a more than welcoming Kean community. I am glad that I have been given the opportunity to take part in this early RAM T2K class, because now, I feel like a part of the Kean family.

  12. Question # (2)
To begin with, I think that College would have been a hard environment to adapt too but with the help and head start of the RAM program, I manage to overcome my anxiety of attending a new environment. I know that college will be challenging but you are not alone in your challenges, they are professors, faculty member, councilors and many more helpful, individual to assist you whenever help is needed. The RAM program also helped me a lot with navigating my way around campus and knowing where all the buildings are located.

  13. I first believed that college would be a place where you are all alone. I thought that professors wouldn't care about their students and students wouldn't have any outside resources. But from what I learned in T2K, it's the complete opposite. Professors do care about your education well being, as long as you show them you care too. And if you are having trouble you can talk to your T2K advisor, professor, or even your RA. On the Kean campus, you are everything except for alone.

  14. 2). I like anyone else, thought that college would be very different and harder than what I experienced in high school. Of course, I expected to be very nervous and I thought that I would find it very hard to adjust to college life, because we're all so protected in high school, but college you're on your own and that scared me a little, but being in the RAM program gave me a week ahead of anyone else to adjust to KU, get to know the campus a little, and it completely took away all of my nervous thoughts. I don't feel so scared anymore and thanks to RAM my first day next week won't feel so scary anymore.

  15. Question 2

Sincerely, new changes has always frightened me a lot, before I started RAM, the idea of knowing that holidays were over and the university was going to start made me nervous, that scared me a lot and I did not even know why, the first day of RAM I was very nervous, but at the end of the day I felt different, I felt calm, relaxed, and confident of myself. Thanks to RAM I think I'm more prepared to start college now, I feel more confident and more relaxed about how things are going to be, actually College is a very different environment than High School, but I feel prepared for what college is going to be, it's difficult but not as much as my head thought, also, it's going to be a really great time, and full of experiences.

  16. 2. I had very few ideas about what college would be like. I like to be realistic most of the time, so I did not want to get my hopes up and then be let down when my idealistic misconceptions about college did not become reality. My only real expectations for college were to make new friends and gain more independence. T2K has definitely given me more independence; however, it has not helped me to make new friends. People already seemed to have their own friend groups, which made it difficult to strike up conversations with them.

  17. At first, I thought transitioning into college was going to be hard. I felt this way because I just knew I wouldn't know where any of my classes were, or how to get there or how to maneuver around a college campus. However, being in the RAM program allowed me to explore the campus. I know Kean like the back of my hand now because of the tours we've taken and I'm more confident in this semester then I was a week ago.

  18. 1) I changed my mind on my academics. Throughout high school I spent my time learning more about computers rather than doing my responsibilities. I never spent enough time on my work but I chose to do something I was most passionate with. That is what led to my major, I am so excited for college for the reason that I get to study the field I enjoy the most.

  19. As a high school student they engrave this scary image upon college. My teachers forced me to believe that college was this strict place that prohibited fun. When I stepped foot in Kean University ,I was so intimidated and thought of the worst scenarios. The Ram program has showed me that college is not a scary place. College is what you make of it . You have to know how to balance your time , so you can create a blissful memory.
